You need to be here instead. (Honestly, it's like this most of the time here.)

How boring.

Sure, but when do you get out of the Navy?
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:33 |

It's 60 in KC

It's 83 in Austin today. :P

That's where my parents want to retire to.

Or you can deal with the cold and have this.

I was there in November, it was between 60 and 70 everyday -_-
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:38 |

my cousin lives out there. Said that he heard on the radio yesterday "it's going to get below 70 today so drive careful". Personally, I don't do anything when it's over 85.

Childish temp is childish.

Never signed up in the first place.

Sounds boring. When do you do snowy donuts?
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:47 |

Nah, I'm good. I lived in Alaska for 5 years when I was younger. I'm done with snow.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:48 |

not so much that it was below 70, it was that it rained. People out here lose their damn minds when anything heavier than a heavy fog hits here.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:49 |

It'll be 111 there soon too. it will still probably be in the mid 70-low 80's here.

I grew up in a place that had a lot of "weather" You had an equal chance of freezing to death in the winter as you did of death my heatstroke in the summer. I'm planning on going to the beach later this week, I'll have to think it over there for a while before I can get back to you about which I like better.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:52 |

It snows up in the mountains here, if you're into that kind of thing.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:55 |

Ha, we don't even really get snow. In Germany we deal with "The Gray", a 6 month period when the sun refuses to shine and it is cold enough for a winter coat but not cold enough for snow to stick.

You're right. 83 is unseasonably warm for this time of year, and it will be rainy and 55 by Saturday. My family went to SD for vacation two summers ago. Walking around Legoland on a bright, sunny 75-degree day was amazing, since it would have been 100 in Texas at that time.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 15:59 |

Oddly enough, we get that too in May/June. Warm but not sunny.

I'm originally form the south, so i know your pain. I just decided I'd had enough of it.

Then how do you live in San Diego?
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:09 |

I'd think with a house....

I came here for a temp job assignment 15 years ago and just never left.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:12 |

Yes, but I do enjoy having plentiful fresh water whenever I want it.

Maybe when I'm older I'll cease to find it interesting. At least both scenarios are better than those hell holes where it just rains all the time.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:14 |

But it's clear from being in San Diego that only Navy personnel are allowed to live there full-time.

What can I say? I'm not real big on following other people's rules.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:21 |

So you are in.... Seattle?
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:22 |

We'll be okay here as long as the Colorado river gets enough of it upstream. Or we'll desalinate it or recycle it.....in which case I will only drink beer.

Don't get caught; I hear Captain's Mast leaves you with a sinking feeling.

Well I'm from Michigan—lovely winters that drag on a bit, summers that mostly don't get too hot—, go to school in Oklahoma (boiling hot in the summer, windy as hell all year round, and unbelievably erratic in the winter), but right now I'm living in Paris (aforementioned rainy hell hole). Lovely city, but the weather is just terrible. No snow to speak of, but it's pretty much been cold and wet since October. Nice in the summer though.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:32 |

Not worried about it. if they haven't found out by now, they probably won't. Or did and just don't care. Either way works for me.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:36 |

The Paris? Or another one named in it's honor? I hear people tend to really like that place.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:42 |

Yes, the one in France. I do like the city itself, but the weather is just awful.

Being a meteorologist in San Diego is such a racket.
![]() 01/27/2015 at 16:51 |

Mostly they talk about weather happening in other places.

Yes, today was very nice.

Seconded.
Moved here from Long Island > Cleveland > Virginia in 2013, loving it.

Which part of town do you call home?
![]() 01/27/2015 at 21:30 |

Currently living in Mission Valley and commuting to Mira Mesa, and exploring other parts of the county on weekends. How about yourself?
Also, any recommendations for local automotive events/attractions? I'd like to get together with some like-minded people. I do plan to check out autocross soon.

You and I are practically neighbors. I'm up the hill in Sera Mesa near the hospital. Got the DD to Carlsbad and back. There is always some kind of car event going on around here, usually starting in the spring. Just find whatever scene you are into, there's a club for it here. One advantage for you though, since you are in Mission Valley, is that pretty much every weekend at Qualcomm stadium they do autocross events. Just drive by and check it out. I've been a few times and the guys are pretty nice and don't mind answering questions, if you have any.
I'm assuming that you were stationed here, which branch are you in? Navy? Marines?

Howdy neighbor!
I've heard good things about the Qualcomm autocross, and I'm looking forward to dropping by soon. I saw there's a newbie weekend in May, but I'll probably be there even sooner.
Not a military guy myself—I moved out here with my girlfriend after she moved out to VA with me while I finished up school. I'm lucky she hailed from San Diego. Great place to call home!

Agreed, fellow transplant! Other than the ridiculous cost of living, I really like it here.
